Serious pop-culture archive heaven is flashing across my TV. The hoardings of the man who owned and ran the Wintergarden in SF, Bill Graham have been uncovered in a basement on the Haight-Ashbury. Graham was a hoarder on Warholian scale, he has kept a poster for every concert played there over his thirty years. All the contracts are there, that autograph collection alone would be worth several million dollars.
But, wait for it, he also recorded virtually every concert played at the Wintergarden. Some exist as audio recordings, many more are on film / video. Yes viewers, he has the Sex Pistols final show on video. Keith Moon's last appearance on stage. JANIS! I could go on...
They showed some of the audio findings from the archive being accessed using iTunes. We will investigate.
Ever get the feeling you've been cheated....?
